Finding Footing

Every year I say it. That the new year will absolutely, positively be mine.

And this time I genuinely think that this year will absolutely, positively will be.

I am not one to parade achievements, nor do I have a ballooned ego, but in the past year I have began to acknowledge myself and take pride in all I do - and create. Growing up with everybody’s doings and successes plastered on screens and socials, I have often found it hard to look at what I have done and take pride in it. Almost as if, if what you have created or won in life doesn’t have a digital footprint - then it isn’t comparable with those that do. Seeing friends promotions, posts of career longevity or awards and statements of recognition bestowed like trophies of the digital age, has made me feel utter proudness towards them and their successes - but also envious of their confidence in themselves and their ability to take pride in the pedestal they have been placed on.

So why not jump on the bandwagon myself, and share more of my successes with those that want to hear, or perhaps practice some silent pride and journal more of the positive things I experience. This year I am living by the motto that there is no shame in success nor is there any in celebrating it.
